The selection of successful applicants will be primarily based on the motivation letter and CV.

No, we welcome PhD students from all disciplines. Yet, the program will be tailored to natural sciences and engineering doctoral students. We encourage those dedicated to science communication and interested in incorporating societal impact into their research to apply.

Yes, if you are a PhD student enrolled in an EPFL doctoral program, you can obtain 2 ECTS, at ETH you can obtain 1 ECTS. Credits can be granted to participants who:

  • Paid their participation fees
  • Followed the entire summer school
  • Passed the final examination (group presentation and preparation of a written communication piece)

If you are a doctoral student at a different University/Institute, it is possible to obtain ECTS too. However, you have to make arrangements with your doctoral program.

The participation fee is 250 CHF, including accommodation and board.
